The Scout Section is for young people, aged between 10½ and 14 years.

The ‘troop’ is the third and final section of our group before you move on to District Explorers.

At Gorse Hill, we believe that ‘participation’ rather than meeting set standards is the key approach to our success. If you want to be recognised for your achievements and skills, there are a number of Challenges Awards and Activity Badges.

At Scouts, you will take part in a balanced programme that helps you to find out about the world in which you live, encourages you to know your own abilities and the importance of keeping fit, as well as explore and realise your creative talents. It also provides you with opportunities to explore your own values and personal attitudes.

Being outdoors is important and a large proportion of the programme is dedicated to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities including abseiling, raft building, shooting, swimming and kayaking.
